After the second flood, the city moved to its current location and changed its name to El Reno. When it opened, the El-Reno Carnegie Library became the fourth Carnegie Library in the Oklahoma Territory and is the oldest Carnegie library building in the state that is still used as a library. Delta Sigma was founded in 1921 as a high school community and about three years later Kappa Alpha Phi was installed. In the early 1920s, El Reno High School Football Club (now the University of Oklahoma football team) was founded.
The course was opened in the 1960s as a 9-hole country club and redesigned by P.B. Dye Jr. It was reopened as an urban 18-hole course that quickly became a favorite of locals and sports fans. The Southwestern Federal Correctional Institution, which is reserved for male inmates under 35, was established in 1961 as El Reno Federal Correctional Institution, a state prison for men between 18 and 35 years of age. This population grew to include men of all ages and renamed it El Reno Federal Penitentiary in the mid-1970s.
